How to use a menstrual cup? Step-by-step guide
Before you learn how to use a menstrual cup, you should know that they come in different versions. The smaller one is ideal for those who are under the age of 30 and/or have a lighter flow. The larger version is for those who are 30+, have a heavier flow or recently had a baby.
Inserting a menstrual cup
Step 1
Make sure your hands are clean.
Step 2
Apply some water or a light layer of water-based lube on the cup’s rim. This will make inserting easier.
Step 3
Fold the cup in half. Hold the folded cup in one hand with the rim facing up.
Step 4
Sit or squat and insert the cup inside your vagina. Ensure that the rim is facing forward.
Step 5
Once inside and a couple of inches below your cervix, turn the cup around slowly so it can open fully. As it unfolds, it creates a seal which will prevent it from slipping or leaking the fluid.

Gently squeeze the bottom of the cup to release the suction. Maintain a tight grasp while pulling the cup down to remove it.
